The Draft Station on Sonterra – San Antonio, TX
Like The Lion and Rose pub that once occupied this Stone Oak location, The Draft Station’s decor has some British accents. In most ways, though, the neighborhood bar is an all-American enterprise, with beer, burgers and arcade games galore. It’s the kind of place you might stop after work for a drink and wind up staying for a couple of hours. Everyone from lawyers to service-industry employees, millennials to baby boomers can be found at this spot, which is sociable, not snooty. Not too long after the bar opened, an owner was greeting regulars by name. There are 24 beers on tap, both mainstream and craft brands, including Texas beers such as Resignation Brewery’s KCCO White Wheat. A menu of 12 railway-themed cocktails includes the Railyard, a blend of Tequila, Licor 43, chocolate and orange bitters; and the Conductor, a rum drink with ginger beer, strawberry syrup and lime juice.
